4/4/2023 0 Comments Roger clarkHe has qualified for the Boston Marathon, with a time that would not have as fruitful if he’d been much younger. He would someday like to shoot his age in golf, which will require that he not become part of that shrinkage too soon. He’s been ranked as high as 4th in his age grade in New England in tennis, which becomes decreasingly impressive as that age grade shrinks. In his spare time, Roger loves to play tennis, golf and guitar with friends, and to run long distances, all interests inspired by his parents, Bertha and John. He has also published coauthored work with Bev, on the one hand, and his two children, Adam and Wendy, on the other. He has collaborated on research, in one way or another, with almost all the colleagues with whom he’s shared a department at both institutions. For the last 20 years, he has taught a popular course about gender and gender inequality from a comparative perspective. Roger has taught sociology for 38 years, first at Nichols College, then at Rhode Island College. ![]() And, fourth, thanks to the ways Fijian and Indian neighbors and colleagues “did gender,” he developed a deeply constructivist view of gender, even before he had words to describe it. Third, he developed a deep interest in comparative sociology. Second, he developed a taste for collaborative work, first thanks to the joys of co-teaching with Bev, and then with other Fijian and Indian teachers. ![]() ![]() First, Roger learned, thanks initially to 40 extraordinarily motivated Fijian 9th graders, that he loved to teach. This experience was formative in at least four ways. As Peace Corps Volunteers in the Fiji Islands, Bev and he started a new high school near the capital city of Suva. Roger’s parents, Bertha and John Clark, modeled a profound brand of egalitarian feminism as he was growing up, a script that a 49-year partnership with Bev Clark has done nothing to undermine. 4/3/2023 0 Comments Measure beaker![]() What is the difference between measuring cylinder and measuring beaker?īeaker vs graduated cylinder - what’s the difference? The most obvious difference between a beaker and the cylinder shapes beakers are larger with a wider shape while the cylinders typically have a smaller capacity and are shaped taller and narrower. Beakers are better for stirring and mixing liquids. Graduated cylinders typically are more accurate at reading the volumes of the liquid inside. Is a beaker more precise or accurate?īoth graduated cylinders and beakers are pieces of laboratory glassware that have a specific function. … The density of copper was found to be 9.190☐.836, with an accuracy of 2.567%. While the 25 ml cylinder had a volume of 24.601☐.708 ml and the 50 ml beaker had a volume of 24.074☑.98 ml. The precision of a 50 ml beaker, 25 ml grad. Liter (L) is a special name for the cubic decimeter (dm 3). The SI unit of volume is the cubic meter (m 3), which is a derived unit. Volume is the measure of the 3-dimensional space occupied by matter, or enclosed by a surface, measured in cubic units. However, if you heated the beaker steadily for 40 minutes, it definitely wasn’t shocked into breaking. Usually lab glass breaks because of thermal shock – either hot glass with cold water or cold glass with hot water. They are cylindrical with a flat bottom and can range to contain from 10mL to over 1L of liquid. These containers, practically synonymous with ‘science’ itself, are used to contain and measure liquids. Can a beaker be heated?īeakers, test tubes and flasks that are made from Pyrex glass are suitable for direct heating by hotplate, heating mantle or bunsen burner. They are not volumetric and their accurate only to +/- 5% of their graduation. Are beakers accurate?īeakers are used to contain volumes of liquids. It is similar to a beaker, but has the cone shaped body. It generally has measurement marks on the side. What can I use instead of a beaker?Įrlenmeyer flask – This is a type of chemistry flask with a conical shaped body, a cylindrically shaped neck, and a flat bottom. Burets are for addition of a precise volume of liquid. They are also used to catch liquids from titrations and filtrates from filtering operations. What is use of beaker?īeakers are useful as a reaction container or to hold liquid or solid samples. For example, a 100 mL beaker might only have marks for every 20 mL, so it would be tricky to gauge the exact volume of a liquid sample falling between the 60 mL and 80 mL marks. The volume marks on a beaker are only approximate values, and therefore only provide whole numbers. Mass is typically measured using a balance. The gram (g), which is 1/1000 of a kg is used for measuring masses of small objects such as flasks and beakers. The standard unit for mass is the kilogram (kg). Mass is a measure of the quantity of matter. 4/3/2023 0 Comments Melodics latency![]() ![]() The guitars, mic, keyboard.just the midi drums have a delay when playing. This can't be the only option right? Every other instrument is fine. Is there anything i can do about this? It's driving me nuts! Fortunately, most personal loans don’t. ![]() What if you need more money after you pay off the loan? You’ll have to apply for a new loan. Your lender will approve your loan amount based on these factors and how much you need to borrow. You may have to put down collateral, depending on the type of loan you’re taking out. Lenders work with your credit score, your repayment and credit history, and your salary. The payments are usually fixed and every personal loan has a payback period - usually lasting between 12 and 84 months. With personal loans, you borrow a fixed amount of money and pay it back in monthly payments. You should also fill out a loan application for different lenders to compare your options - you only receive the funds when you agree to their contract. Look at a few different lenders and compare their APR rates, fees, and eligibility requirements.
